Jim VosmikJames L. Vosmik, President, Owner

Jim comes to Warren Industrial Group, LLC with 22 years of manufacturing, engineering, and sales management experience. Most recently, he spent 13 years as President, CEO, and principal owner of Drake Manufacturing Services Co., a global designer and builder of production systems (machine tools) for manufacturers of parts with threads and gear teeth.

He led the purchase of the $5.7 million company from its founder and during the next 8 years “globalized” it developing end markets in Europe, China, Japan, India, Taiwan and other areas of Asia resulting in peak cycle revenues of $32 million—over 65% of that from overseas.

During that time, Drake converted its product line from 80% CNC retrofits to 99% design/build of automated, state-of-the-art, ultra-precision production (thread grinding) systems. Typical accuracy of the machines is ≤ 4 microns (4:1,000,000). He left the firm in 2016 following a 2-year transition after selling control to an investment firm enabling two of his partners to retire.

Prior to Drake, Jim was president and an owner of Precision Threading Corp. PTC is a designer and marketer of threading tools sold through the Cheboygan Tap & Tool and North Attleboro Tap brands. At PTC, he systematically reengineered machining/grinding standards and practices and converted the production equipment to state-of-the-art CNC machines while implementing a Theory-of-Constraints (TOC) manufacturing system to reduce inventory by 43%, quoted lead times by 20%, and actual lead time by 38%. He remains a director and owner of PTC.

Prior to PTC, he spent 10 years in investment banking where he assisted private and public organizations in developing and implementing growth and finance plans to meet their strategic goals. He has a BA from Case Western Reserve University and an MBA in strategy and operations management from the Weatherhead School of Management. In addition to his formal education, he has completed numerous training courses in leadership, manufacturing management, and the Theory of Constraints.

During his tenure at Drake, Gary led the conversion of the company from a “customized” retrofit approach to a standardized serial product line. Also, during this time, he implemented and managed several systems, including document control, ISO 9001, document standards, and constraint-based project management, with a primary focus of providing scalability to the organization. He left the organization in 2017 following the transition of ownership to a larger international firm.

Prior to Drake, Gary worked as a mechanical developer in the R&D and manufacturing departments at Redzone Robotics, engineering, prototyping and field testing autonomous vehicles designed for infrastructure inspection. His hands-on experience has proven to be invaluable in developing effective but practical manufacturing systems that benefit both the company and the employee end-users.

Gary also served as a Trooper with the Ohio State Highway Patrol, graduating at the top of the class at the Ohio State Highway Patrol Academy. During his service, Gary focused on enforcing drug trafficking and OVI enforcement.
